� 2009 RC deWinter ~ All Rights Reserved ~~ A sturdy, maple, 19th-century New England four-poster is swathed in bedclothes of chintz. ~~ The name 'chintz' is derived from the Hindi word for 'spotted', and is a glazed cotton cloth originally produced only in India. Unglazed chintz is called 'cretonne'. Chintz was extremely popular during the Victorian era and continues to be used as a decorative fabric today. ~~ Digital painting from an original photograph shot in Mystic, Connecticut in August 2009.
