asylum for one
there is a place
my very own
concealed from sight
where i retreat
when life presses relentlessly
upon my chest
unlike giles corey
stalwart worthy
inhumed under fieldstone
i do not cry "more weight!"
but hide instead
until the pressure passes
this room is cluttered
filled with books
a standing lamp
a curve-backed chair
and music plays
that cure for almost any ill afflicting
would that i could invite you in
when life beats at you merciless
alas there is no entryway
no map to view no door to find
it is my private hideaway
the library within my mind
