Summoning Enchantment
Clouds obscure most stars:
only the most persistent planets break through
this woolly blanket and transmit their splendor
over the eons to my eyes,
transfixed as they are on Venus,
tranquil evening star,
goddess of desire,
patroness of love.
I bathe my bare skin in her brilliance,
eager to absorb those beams into my being
so that when the time comes,
I will glow with incandescent luminosity and bedazzle
him who fights his way through the steely mists
of my all-encompassing aura.
