corner chair
lamplight shining
curtains open to cloudless starry sky
in the shadowed evening i sat
book in hand
eyes tired
mind tired
soul tired
three or four pages
and i slept
dreaming of what awaited
could i only escape this dead box
that does nothing but keep out the rain
and in that dream
a map unfurled
a path to where i want to live
every detail outlined
in perfect logic
the who and where and how
i woke on fire
and ran to the window
to gaze at the stars
awaiting my arrival
there were no stars
there was no sky
only a mirror image of the room
blotting out the waiting world
and as the dream dissolved
map crumbling into hourglass sand
i heard the fates laughing

Your art always evokes thoughtful (in the sense of being filled with thought) comments like Joel's and Meg's, and of course your stories and poems stir even more thoughts in the viewer. I love a mental puzzle and the surrealism here gives me exactly that. Is what we see on the outside - or from the outside - what we would see on the inside - or from the inside? Who and where exactly are we? I also love the tones and textures in this one, especially the velvety, ribbed upholstery which I want to rub my hand over. FA promo, L,F,P,FB
