Pale winter afternoon light shimmers as it floods into the drawing room through a gallery window at Wadsworth Mansion, a 1900 New England Beaux-Arts residence that is now a museum and meeting place in MIddletown, Connecticut. Glimpsing out the window, the bare trees shiver under a gray, cloudy sky that portends a heavy snow.
