Mistaken Identity
I used to think I was of royal birth,
a princess destined to become a queen,
endowed with every excellence and worth,
to rule a kingdom as highness serene.
Life knocked that nonsense all to hell and back,
no Cinderella ending came to pass.
The stars were misaligned, my zodiac
brought chaos, poverty, not gold but brass.
Accepting this, I abdicate the throne,
to live the life that fate designed for me,
in words and pictures painting what I own,
the visions of a blasted destiny.
So, never born to rule, I reinvent,
and hope to die with little to repent.

About RC DeWinter
Hello and welcome to my portfolio on Pixels/Fine Art America. One of my major artistic goals, with appropriate images, is to create digital paintings that you wouldn't know were digital unless I told you. If I could paint in oils I would...alas my eyes don't work with my hand, so I create most of my art from photographs that I re-imagine. Few of my digital paintings resemble the original photographs very much when I am finished with my vision. Of course I also create work that is clearly digital as well. Here's a bit about me: RC...

Nikolyn McDonald
I love the geometry of the quadrangular pieces of door, wall, and floor, the curves of the back and the circle of the seat. The intriguing perspective and distortions and the strong brush strokes add just the right amount of visual interest to the simple subject and palette.
RC DeWinter replied:
Thanks, Nikolyn, it's not a sexy painting but it was a wonderful exercise in geometry and light.
