that online thing
the small screen glows bluely
in the darkened room.
my eyes unfocus sometimes;
i spend many hours of every day
staring at words and punctuation,
staring at pixels, light and color,
proportion and alignment,
focusing on what i call
cunt-hair corrections,
and even then i miss a few.
even with all that punishment
to the eyes,
when the work is done and i can relax
i grab the phone and boot
the only world of friends i know.
we talk, we laugh,
we bitch about life and love -
or in some cases, the lack of it.
there's bitter griping
about our country, the world and our place in it.
some don't understand
this dedication to a universe unreal,
but if you live a life like mine
you surely do.
it's a reaching out
for light and warmth and
the sound of another human voice,
even if that voice is reduce...
About RC DeWinter
Hello and welcome to my portfolio on Pixels/Fine Art America. One of my major artistic goals, with appropriate images, is to create digital paintings that you wouldn't know were digital unless I told you. If I could paint in oils I would...alas my eyes don't work with my hand, so I create most of my art from photographs that I re-imagine. Few of my digital paintings resemble the original photographs very much when I am finished with my vision. Of course I also create work that is clearly digital as well. Here's a bit about me: RC...

RC--I always read what you have to say--that usually goes along with your art pretty well. Wow--it is sad and all too true--probably. You don't want me to 'go there'--because I am a different generation when kids played outside until dark--and people sat on their front porch and looked at the stars--and watched fireflies. Yet--we are caught in the trap too. If the power goes out we need a backup plan--better have a game of checkers stashed somewhere. (Well--I did kinda 'go there'--)
RC DeWinter replied:
I am in that generation, Nava. Nobody worried where we were all day when we played outside, everybody in the neighborhood kept an eye out. We chawed fireflies and looked at stars and enjoyed a freedom children haven;t enjoyed for a couple of generations. Thank you so much for your insightful feedback.
