Slaying Summer
There are dragons in the sky, come with their
frigid breath to slay the scraps of summer.
The pitiless moon will not intervene. Diana
has turned her back to the carnage as the
last green grasses, frosted, then left
to yellow, wilt and finally fall, a brown
curtain over browner earth. The meadow
plants, already painted in the colors of fall,
rustle as the dragons ride the wind westward,
hungry for the sweetness of the sun still to be
scoured from whatever remains. So dies the last
of summer, soon to be blanketed in white until
Auxo returns, remembering nothing.

Autumn overtakes a rural field near Thunder Bay, Canada on a chilly night as the cold slowly erases the remaining green. Reimagined and painted in digital oils from a photograph by Brian Coppola.

About RC DeWinter
Hello and welcome to my portfolio on Pixels/Fine Art America. One of my major artistic goals, with appropriate images, is to create digital paintings that you wouldn't know were digital unless I told you. Few of my digital paintings resemble the original photographs very much when I am finished with my vision. Of course I also create work that is clearly digital as well. Here's a bit about me: RC...

Gorgeous work Gina. I think the dragons may be Diana's pets. Giving her rides to where she wishes to go. She does let them run wild though. :o)
RC DeWinter replied:
Yes, she's very lenient...thanks so much, Bunny
