It was one of those nights.
I felt myself flying apart,
had to break out of the box
before I splatted against the wall.
Better, I thought, to dissolve in
moonlight than end as an
impasto smudge on gray plaster.
And so I rode.
The wind flying in my face
reminded me I was still alive;
my legs pedaling kept me focused.
There was no plan, no sure destination,
just the desire to be whole, not a ragged
mess of mismatched molecules.
Time and distance became irrelevant.
When I became myself again
I was in a wood I didn't recognize,
tires crunching leaves fallen from autumn trees.
I kept on until there was no more
keeping on to do. The wood ended;
I was staring at the sky, and in that blue
ocean hung a ragged moon, weeping
the tears I carried but could not cry.
I propped the bike between two trees

Hello and welcome to my portfolio on Pixels/Fine Art America. One of my major artistic goals, with appropriate images, is to create digital paintings that you wouldn't know were digital unless I told you. If I could paint in oils I would...alas my eyes don't work with my hand, so I create most of my art from photographs that I re-imagine. Few of my digital paintings resemble the original photographs very much when I am finished with my vision. Of course I also create work that is clearly digital as well. Here's a bit about me: RC...

I love this beautiful painting, but your poem is the star. You use your descriptions so well they are breathtaking. You really must publish. :o)
RC DeWinter replied:
:-) Love your encouragement, Bunny, thanks. If you know any angels who want to invest in an art-cum-poetry coffeetable book send them my way. Or tell the New Yorker, the Atlantic, Poetry Magazine et al they're missing out. :-)

This is fascinating. The style makes it look like the bike is dissolving as it rests between the trees, or maybe it's still going so fast it's a blur, and it might be about to fall off the edge! And it looks like the moon is melting! There's so much untold story in this image, like what happened to the rider? And then you told the story, and I love it! (I love the impasto smudge on gray plaster!) I love the escape and the speed and the weeping moon! And I love that it was a healing journey! I could go on and on, this is such engaging and exciting work! Beautiful and fascinating image and marvelous poem! As always, brilliant! : ) l/f!
RC DeWinter replied:
LOL, Meg, I love your enthusiasm. maybe you should read the poetry first...XOXOXO Thank you always

I am captured by the image and the prose....so desperate, so beautiful, the bike seems now safe between these strong and powerful trees...even though you had come to ...the edge. Which is depicted. Wow! F/L++

Most kind, Nancy, yes, you get it. Many thanks.
