being with you was like being trapped in a rosebush
surrounded by the intoxicating scent of beauty
while being scraped bloody by relentless thorns
our time together was a glorious tangle of lust and pain
wild roses buried in a nest of deadly barbs
when i think of you red weals rise on my heart
reminding me of how i suffered for what i mistook for love
