divinity
i sit
sometimes for hours
in a quiet room
filled with flowers
as far away as possible
from the unwanted intrusions
of the sun
the windows of this room
are swathed in silk
heavy
raw
ceiling to floor
to keep the truth
of what light reveals
at bay
i have no place in the present
i do not want its emptiness illuminated
here in this shadowed space
i weave worlds
both beautiful and hellish
my visions tell me what to write
but they are frail things
emerging only in the safety
of the shadows
and so i sit
sometimes for hours
in this quiet room
alone
building cities of clouds
burning bridges of pain
summoning lovers with a gentle nod
slaying enemies with my sword
rewriting truth
playing god
