droughted
clustered in folds of soft pink
surrounded by a lush jungle
protecting their mystery
how like a ripened woman
bloom the wild roses growing
by the dry stone wall
i planted that rose bush
just a sprig really
during a longfaded life
i barely remember
when the unknown
glowed with promise
unlike these roses
courted by butterflies
visited by bees
anything of softness
lushness mystery
about me has brittled
i offer no promises of
nourishment or beauty
petals too long unwatered
i am a scentless potpourri
in a chipped vintage vessel
on the sidetable of life

The muted tones of the flowers and leaves are very comforting.. they remind me of days gone past.. You have created something very beautiful..

I am like you with nasturtiums. These wild pink roses bring back so many memories of youth and nature studies. I can remember their fragrance and walk along in the description you wrote. F/L TW

Love the softness and beauty of these wild roses. Lovely presentation, Gina. l/fv

A gorgeous painting, but your poem, while sad, made me smile. Scentless potpourri and our vintage vessels just get me going. Excellent work.

This is beautiful Gina! I love the softness, both in the tones and your technique. It does feel velvety! And your poem is so powerful... and definitely strikes a nerve. : ) Beautifully written Gina! l/f!
RC DeWinter replied:
Thanks so much, Meg, the roses were much brighter and gaudier, but I think I've told you how I feel about pink. Glad you liked the poem as well.
