nightfall
we met at the melting
of day into night
when shadows swallow the sun
and clouds scatter its dying rays
like molten gold
we melted the same way
as we slipped into shadow
tossing every coin of reason
to the curious onlookers
watching our sidewalk ballet
it was a dark and furious ride
sucking out all sanity
and when the spinning stopped
we lay wasted on the ground
before crawling off in opposite directions
i can't watch a sunset
without remembering your eyes
fading to black as we devoured each other
only to find the meal a poisonous stew
of every broken memory and failed love

As always, your prose is so beautifully matched to your imagery. This painting does indeed appear to "melt". like/f

What a gorgeous painting. Love the composition and colors in this. The poem is full of power, passion and sadness for what could have been, but shouldn't.

I love the bold rich colors, and the golden dusky light and the pov! This is gorgeous Gina! (And I like the signature placement!) And your poem! Such intense passion and I loved reading it spiral into bitterness! : ) Beautifully done Gina! l/f!
RC DeWinter replied:
I can always count on you to notice EVERYTHING - even the signature. No surprise really, though - your own work is so wonderfully meticulous. I appreciate your kind words, encouragement and thorough attention, Meg.
