red sky at night
i can almost hear
the keening of the maple
whose children
sacrifices to winter
heartsblood splashed against the sky
will soon be sailing
on the crest of cloudy waves
framing implacable diana
before falling to haphazard graves
scattered nameless on the silent earth

RC DeWinter replied:
Thank you, Randy. This tree actually stands along the back garden walkway I mentioned in my reply on the archway painting you said such kind things about.
