This is my rendering of the medieval Clock of Prague as it whirls through space, marking the passage of time. This clock was first installed in 1410, and is the 3rd-oldest astronomical clock in the world. and the only one still working. The calendar dial was added in 1490. Although the enclosing clock tower structure and case are not shown in this painting, Gothic sculptures were also added in 1490; carved wooden status were added in the mid-17th century, and figures of the Apostles were installed after a major repair in the late 19th century. The city of Prague celebrated the clock's 600th anniversary in 2010 with a light show on the exterior of the clock tower. The title of this painting is, of course, from Joni Mitchell's iconic song "Circle Game.'"
