dead end
on and on you go
with scarcely a beat
between one tale and the next
a gush of anecdotal trivia
washes over me
and while i will admit
some of it
can be entertaining
i'm sitting here perplexed
getting a teeny-weeny bit frustrated
okay
vexed even
this is our getting to know you time
boy am i getting to know YOU
the reverse ain't so true
so far i've gotten maybe
three and a half words in edgewise
i gotta ask:
have you no interest whatsoever
in my life?
i'm thinkin' not
i'm no sounding board
no therapist
no audience starving for cheap amusement
i'm too goddamn polite
i should just cut you off
demand some air time
i've been around this traffic circle
more than once
you need to know
i gave up driving
down these narrow one-way streets
a long long time ago

Wonderful work. I'm always drawn to sharp perspective, and the back light is fabulous.

Fabulous work Gina. Love it to pieces. Love the bright colored tree at the end of the dark street. Superb! f/v

This feels three dimensional to me; super light and shadow...dead end was a good read

Love the perspective, surreal feeling to this. And that is a great poem - too often true!
