renewal
on my knees in my watery confessional,
arms outstretched, releasing shame and guilt
to the impassive judgment of the earth and sky,
my head flung back, the silver ribbons of my heavy hair
encircling my face, a pagan's aureole -
now legs unlocked, my breasts abandoned
to the warm caressing waves,
i welcome into my embrace the green god of immortality,
to suck from him with greedy flesh that life-sustaining grace
that propels my quest for wholeness,
that binds my shriven soul to only those most elemental needs:
humility,
generosity of heart,
open-mindedness,
compassion.
but yet i crave one bauble
with which to gaudily adorn my inner life:
the luxury of surrender to those
wild overwashing greenspring
tides of love.

An impressionistic masterpiece Gina - just outstanding and emotive work. But oh my, your poetry - I've been writing of the sea in this same sense lately too. There is something about it that helps me to understand my life, life in general. I'm so taken with your writing. I also want to thank you for your amazing comment on my Via Dolorosa piece that you visited last week. It wasn't meant to be a "religious" statement - but I think you recognized that and that means so much to me. F/V
