seeing the light
hot white spotlight
illuminating only me
i craved that heat
and the anonymous love of the crowd
roaring in a wave of unqualified adoration
those were the days
when i didn't know who i was
or even if i was
and needed to be told
i existed and was worthy
that's been over and done for decades
now strong
i am content in the shadow of anonymity
waiting to be illuminated
only by the sun of a known and steady love
