And, having seen his eyes
that locked hers in an endless gaze,
she faced a rushing, all-consuming tide
that swept her, heart and soul,
into a future that led she knew not where.
The thing she did know was
that no lock, no wall, no promise made
could stop her from what awaited in the dark.
And so, trembling but unafraid,
she walked out into the night to grapple fate.
