garden of neglect
nothing grows in my garden
these days
it is lined with stones
buried in the brown leaves
of autumn
the sparse grass
tangled into
knots of regret
i cannot find the glorious path
i laid out years ago
it is overgrown
possessed of nothing
but weeds and thorns
fool that i am
i believed once established
this plot
once so beautiful
would maintain itself
so dancing off
careless in my hubris
i neglected its necessities
shamelessly
a master gardener
is what is needed
but they are fled
to the warm places
of the soul
and mine is frozen
uninviting
congealed into
the selfish luxury
of self-pity

I love this earthy artwork even more after reading your poem RC. Nice title too. Fav/voted.

A very thought provoking capture Gina! "Garden of Neglect" is so poignant and its deep meaning has not gone unnoticed. l/f
