Love's Reveal

How often is the truth of one's intent
Buried beneath the shyness of one's heart,
Kept hidden until prodded by torment
Of love's persistent penetrating dart.
'Tis only then can passion be disclosed,
Its flaming colors openly revealed,
At long last unafraid to be exposed,
All ardent admiration unconcealed.
And spurred by longing, shyness all forgot
The tongue will find the words that must be said,
Weaving most skillfully a lover's knot
With which to bind the heart in Cupid's thread.
So fearless speak, before the chance is lost,
True love is worth whatever it may cost.
