this bird has flown
light poured in through curtains
softly filtered gauzy blue
the corner lit 'til sunset's veil dropped
i could see in all directions
viewing my world unhampered
but my world itself was hampered
elegantly forged and hammered bars
the boundaries that circumscribed my freedom
no life beside myself within
just seed and water and empty air
after some time i lost the will to sing
my voice stilled in despair
music unable to take wing
a captive jewel prisoned
an ornament never living
blessed are the children
and their purity of heart
the cage unlocked
a window opened
i was free
soaring
feathers caressed by the wind
i fly not knowing where i'm going
and not caring
on a journey to find me

Awesome imagery and a very thought-provoking description to match! Gina, I am a big fan of both your highly creative artworks and prose. This artwork leaves me contemplating escapement from the unseen cages that hold desires of the heart captive. L/V&F
