Forked Tongue
The devil is a handsome man.
He beckons, eyebrow raised
in shameless invitation so seductive
one can't help unbar the door and,
opened wide, invite him in.
But the devil sports a forked tongue,
one part honey, smooth and sweet.
He plies it well 'cross skin parched,
dry and juiceless, from long years of neglect.
But you must remember this:
just when one relaxes,
savoring those silken strokes
so welcome to your hungry soul
out flicks the other, now revealed,
bathed in acid tart enough
it flays flesh from frail bones,
destroying any surety of comfort.
So take the honey if you must,
but don't forget:
for every prick of pleasure and delight
you'll pay with pain.
Yes, you'll pay dear for what you take.

Gina, always thought provoking and interesting! Wise words in your prose and a wonderful abstract to accompany those thoughts. Voted

Not only is your design one of absolute beauty, I have been reading some of your other prose which is an art within itself, and your writing and your paintings go so well together. I am very impressed with you works, as being one artist is enough, but when you art lies in painting and writing with such eloquence, I am in awe of this ability. Thanks for sharing.! F/V

Thanks, Randy, it's actually free verse poetry for the most part with some rhyming pieces as well. So glad you're enjoying the writing as well as the art.
