Enigma in Iambic Pentameter

My unhinged lust for you died long ago,
buried beneath the ash of bridges burnt.
Yet still I pace the planks of memory,
wondering what I symbolized to you.
The brilliance of the moon can shed no light,
the twinkling stars that mock my weary mind
I know like all of us are born to die,
and when they do I'll stumble in the dark.
My thoughts do tumble endless hand to hand,
paste jewels stolen from a bankrupt heart,
glinting persistent although pointless now;
I clutch them, unable to let them fall.
These questions unanswered will always be,
remaining to the end a mystery.
