window undressing
there's a place
i'd like to take you
if you'll come
along with
me some moonlit summer night
we'll sit at the small
table in
the corner by the
old windows
with closed eyes
that see nothing hear nothing
so can tell nothing
we can freeze
the frame suspend time
unfold like
satiny
moonflowers in the silver
light softly shining
to share the
stories we've scribbled
the brilliant
the hurtful
the scandalously foolish
things we celebrate
and regret
what remains and the
lost we mourn
in silence
even if we never reach
across the table
to touch hands
we'll have touched something
deeper more
enduring
than the flesh that always fails
we'll have touched our souls

Even if I wasn't a sucker for the drama of this color combination (which I am :) ), the intimacy of the small table for four tucked into that corner for a bit of protection against the elements would draw me in. Love the moon. P (Red Board)

I love the rich colors Gina! Those red chairs are wonderful, and I love the light and shadows and that marvelous moon! I feel like I can hear the echo of laughter and conversation. And I love your poem! The invitation for so much more than just a meal is beautiful. The connection promised makes me feel hopeful beyond the moment. Beautifully written! l/f!
