Life used to be on fire;
living doused those flames.
Now I sit with nothing
but wet matches, sodden sticks
and memories of being alight,
an Ariel freed from Prospero's grip.
Now I wander, earthbound,
in my garden, drowning myself
in the passion of nature,
since I cannot summon any of my own.
