snow globe
i have known
the sexdrenched madness of desire
born of pheromones
a feral gaze
the urgency of overcharged flesh
sparking
electric
i have bitten and been bitten
fangs flashing through salt skin
i have tasted bitter tears and wept them
taken and surrendered
ridden the dragon to the rainbow's end
where everything dissolves
evaporates to black
now i desire something different
love falling like soft snowflakes
shaken from a heart like mine
swirling in a gentle lover's breath
one who has taken those same journeys
and is ready for a final adventure
in the winter of our lives

Twilight snow falls on historic Bull's Bridge, one of three covered bridges still standing in Connecticut, and the Housatonic River in the town of Kent. Although there was an earlier bridge in this location dating back to the time of George Washington, the accepted date of the current bridge on the National Register of Historic Places is 1842. Other sources claim Bull's Bridge was built in 1858 by Jacob Bull of Dover Plains, New York for $3,000.
Reimagined and painted from a photograph by Brian Coppola.

This is beautiful! Dusk in winter is my favorite time of day. It's the time 'In between' for me. A moment to pause, soak in the air, connect with my natural surroundings and get lost in the simple, in the peace. A time to meditate, if you will, and yet spark the energy to rejuvenate life. The snow adds a peaceful, yet exciting energy. This painting brings swirl of exciting emotions and nostalgic feelings. It's wonderful! Thank you for creating it!

When I first viewed this amazing piece I thought, immediately, of a very similar red covered bridge in Jefferson, New Hampshire which has deep meaning for me. Regardless, your painting(s) are impressive. I can feel the emotions coming through. And I love the prose as well. Cheers! l/f
RC DeWinter replied:
