lear lingers
once a lion of a man
undone by the vanity
of demanding love described
and the perfidy of blood
lear weeps alone
mind riddled with madness
face etched in furrows
by scalding salt
chest hollowed by grief
barely quivering with breath
kingdom in tatters
last daughter dead
what good the crown
spattered with treason
even could it be restored
all hope swept away
by the winds on the heath
lear prays for nothing
but to count
the reaper's worms

Beautiful interpretive art, Gina. Shakespeare's tragedy is here, the despair so perfectly symbolized. Wonderful art...bold and heartfelt! F/L+++

A gorgeous story. One of my favorites by Shakespeare. A gorgeous painting, showing the angst and broken heart.
