the end of the season
gray skies for days
and the wind up from the sea
is heavy
bitter with salt
singing in the key of cold
there
by the back step
lies the last of autumn
a carnival of leaves
a fragile crumbling rainbow
pushed up against unforgiving concrete
somewhere not far off
i hear the ravenous whine of leafblowers
the hired crew out in force
soon they will be here
and i will be forced to move
they will steal this last bit of beauty
leaving nothing but bare ground
to be buried in the snows of eternal winter

This little treasure of an autumnal world fills the senses with delight. Those leaf blowers in the distance do not deter. F/L

What an absolute pleasure to find all of these bouquet flowers strew in a pile next to a rock. Somehow being out there...we face the winter too. Love this one so much, Gina! F/L++

Gorgeous colors and wonderful contrast with the surroundings! And such beautiful poetry! I loved living in that moment, well, until the leaf blowers arrived. Beautifully done Gina! l/f!

A lovely colorful floral gift to enjoy before it all disappears in the eternal winter, RC!
