i have denied loving roses
again and again
although i have painted them
again and again

truth be told i am one
a rose redder than blood
the queen of swords as ever was
and here i show you

and here i prove my lie
my heart still beats with passion
but reach not to pluck
unless you are well gloved

my chest sliced open
i bloom for you
pulsing hotly in the sun of spring
awaiting the grasp of the master gardener
