Gods Save the Queen
My diadem, despair, a crown of thorns,
tonight sits heavy, pressed against my brow.
A collar, leaden, my slim neck adorns,
my dark imprisonment perfected now.
Thus burdened, out I walk in moonlit night,
to pray for succor, pray for sweet release.
And falling to my knees, an acolyte,
Cry out to all the gods, begging surcease.
It may be there is no one listening;
my fond belief may be a fairytale.
Do gods exist to grant petitioning,
or is there naught beyond this mortal veil?
Yet still I kneel, clutching Pandora's jewel,
And hope my orison is my renewal.
