cinderella waiting
scared stiff in an unfamiliar world
wearing unfamiliar clothes
i stand at the top of the stairs
with a hundred other women
maybe more
all of us waiting to be inspected
possibly one of us to be collected
heart pounding
unsure of how to act
how to be
i wish i hadn't come
but it's past time for regrets
even though these shoes
are killing me
and i'll likely chip one
on these stairs of stone
there's nothing for it
but to smile and pretend
to be a princess

I am struck by how your painting makes the circular stair area look like it's built of opal. One huge and gorgeous piece. I love your write up, having felt the same way at 'special' functions at times. Fabulous work on both.

Many thanks, Bunny, glad you like what I've done here...impressionism and a few twinkles never hurts.

RC, I love the spiraling perspective and the intricate nuances in rich color and texture. This must have been difficult to obtain this viewpoint safely. Loved the poem too. L./f

It looks to me like a jeweler's delicate work with an emerald in the center. I just love it! l/f
