unsweetened
i remember how it feels to be juicy
fresh and ripe
and bursting with a lust for life so sharp
i never wanted the day to end
i remember when everything was golden
and i was queen of the may
kneedeep in flowers
brought by parfit gentil knights
all clamoring for my attention
oh i
i'm still juicy but that juice is sour
i am no sweetfleshed peach
now cynical and thickskinned
yellowed with age
my tang is bitter
and no one's brave enough to taste it
all the knights are fled or dead
my crown is wilted
gone to seed
there are no more flowers
this lemon needs some aid
a sugar daddy
literally

Gina, Thank-you for your thread help and I now understand about posting ! I am so drawn to your beautiful poetry and this image is soooo fitting. I have a lemon tree in my yard . It has little green lemons and masses of fragrant flowers. F/V share

Always glad to help, Susan. Thank you for the kind words, glad you like the poetry as well. I am jealous of your lemon tree!

As usual, your images catches the eye, and your poem catches my aging heart. How well said and shown, Gina. f/l

Gina, I believe you are among the most fruitful (paronomasia intended) artists on FAA! Every time I visit your beautiful galleries, there are more creative works to enjoy, and not just the images, but your outstanding descriptions as well! Such an inspiring body of work! L&F
RC DeWinter replied:
How very kind, Doug, and I am always glad when you visit. I appreciate the encouragement, thank you.

What a way you have with words....so full of wisdom and lots of truth! F/L+++
RC DeWinter replied:
I have to tell you, Nancy, I laughed all the way through writing it, because it is truthful to a an exaggerated point but also mainly wryly humorous. Thanks so much.
