This magnificent Goliath heron posed very cooperatively for me at the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Goliath heron (Ardea goliath) - which grows to almost 5 feet tall, - is the largest living heron in the world and is found in sub-Saharan Africa, Iraq, Iran, and has also been seen in Pakistan and Syria.
