Incurable
You, incubus, infected me
with a pernicious longing
my magick cannot cure.
You roam, unbidden, in my blood;
you stalk the corridors of my unconscious,
appearing unexpected around corners
in my most of innocent dreams.
No charm quenches the fire you ignited;
no broom can brush away the fingerprints
you charred upon my heart.
Bell, book and candle have not served
to excommunicate your ghost;
I live with unfulfilled desire simmering
just beneath the surface of my smile.
You dismissed me without a backward glance,
but I cannot dismiss you - you will not let me go.
